In this unit, we were able to experiment with four different art medias: drawing, clay, painting and printing. Below are my final projects for each of the four mediums we used.
1. What new skills did you learn as part of this unit?
I learned lots of new skills in this unit. For the drawing part, I learned lots of techniques on how to shade to make objects look 3-D, and learned to draw well using 1st and 2nd point perspective. Then, when we started painting I learned a multitude of watercolor painting techniques such as resisting, wet-into-wet, transparency, etc., and I learned a lot about how to paint with acrylic paint as well. Plus, while printing, I was able to get lots of special tips from Mr. Creech who specializes in print making. Additionally, while sculpting using the clay, I learned about how to define and create layers in a sculpture. So, overall in this unit I was able to create with multiple medias and learned a lot about each one.
2. What project from the Bootcamp did you find to be the most successful? Why?
I liked the way all of my projects turned out but I would have to say my clay sculpture was the most successful. I think I did very well with the sculpting and proportions. Also, I think I did pretty good painting it. I believe it was well rounded and finished piece. Overall, I was very happy with all of my works but I was especially proud of my clay tile.
3. What media are you interested in using again and why?
I enjoyed using all the medias, but I would say I am most interested in print making. I really enjoyed the small amount of print making we did. Plus, seeing the more advanced and cooler-looking prints that Mr. Creech brought in also made me interested in doing a more advanced print myself.
